9900k availability anyone

I was afraid of that. I cancelled my preorder and was wondering when it would have shipped. I'm waiting for prices to drop back to normal. If not, oh well. I'll buy an i5-9600K and play games just as well.

don't know if you realize it, but $588 is the regular price - that $488 price on intel's spec sheet, if you clik the "?" next to their "customer price" you'll see that describes that price is for quantities of 1000 units

between amazon's discount and my 5% credit for using their credit card, my price was down about $501.50 - i can wait a week or two, i'll live

$488 is the price per unit price for 1,000 unit quantity purchase - what retailer is going to sell something for what he pays for it buying in 1,000 unit quantities?

Has anyone received one yet? If so, when did you pre-order?

I pre-ordered from Amazon, too (on the morning of 10/17/18), but haven't received it, or any word about when it will ship.

Considering pre-orders were available starting on the 9th, there's probably a lot of people in line ahead of you. Amazon doesn't seem to have any 9th-gen in stock while Newegg has the 9600K and 9700K.

newegg isn't just stating "out of stock" but "Not available"

Intel’s "Processor Supply Shortfall" Could Mean i9-9900K Being Delayed to 2019

PCGamesN has a hunch that a paper launch is likely for Intel’s upcoming 9th-generation processors. Leaning on a DigiTimes article hinting at tight supplies, the author points out that Intel’s 14nm lines are probably inundated due to the delay of its 10nm process. With so many products still on 14nm silicon, the author warns that an i9-9000K may not even hit shelves until 2019.

...with the release of the rest of the 300-series chipsets on 14nm, and the upcoming Z390 motherboards also on the same node, there is increasingly more pressure being put on the production of 14nm silicon. Intel has already halted production of one entire chipset range because of it. And that’s going to have some serious consequences for the PC market in the second half of this year.

I went to Microcenter in Flushing Queens and picked up a 9700K (got the last one). When I asked about the i9, the person checking me out told me that they received none and that none of the Microcenters on Long Island received any at all. I asked her if they had expected any and she said yes, at least a few. She then told me that she also heard that Amazon and Newegg also never got any shipments neither and that they, too, only got a limited number of 9700k's.

Realizing we're only a couple of days past the expected release date, and realizing the enthusiast market probably doesn't represent 5% of intel's market, regardless of when intel actually ships product, ie the 9900k, it's inconceivable to me that a company of Intel's capabilities, couldn't co-ordinate production scheduling with their marketing department specifically in the way of announced release dates.

It's incomprehensible that no one in the marketing dept didn't know they wouldn't make their announced release date, and yet no announcements were made "correcting" earlier announcements.

My partner and i started a new company back in 2004 (given it is a metal fabrication company, not electronics) - but after releasing a few minor products, announced our major product that we had announced we were developing, we announced that major product would be shipping september of 2006. We ended up encountering some issues with the cavity mold and ended up delaying release until April 2007. That was a major lesson to us, but it was a case of an over eager marketing dept wanting to get into gear and ending up disappointing our customer base that had built up waiting for the new product, which similiar to this market was an "enthusiast" market. It cost us in sales, as a number of potential customers, having been forced to wait for product they expected to have in hand, simply lost interest and decided to "wait and see". Forcing that "patience" on them cost us, but we learned from the experience.

I have to wonder how much of a factor of not informing the market that release had been delayed, was due to Intel not wanting to disappoint their ancillary manufacturers ( ie, motherboard mfgrs) that kept them from releasing info about the delay. I know i'm sitting here with a mobo, case and a few other items i ordered the same time i pre-ordered the 9900k.

Yeah this has me pissed - i don't plan to sit around until 2019 waiting for the 9900k to ship - i'll probably put the mobo up for sale late november and forget about this cpu for awhile

Same here. I cancelled my pre-order, twice now. I have since bought the Ryzen 7 2700X (just to experience Ryzen); but I still have the Z390 Maximus XI Hero I ordered the same day I ordered the 9900K on Oct 8th. I think I will just order the i7-9700K since they are in stock.
