Two EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Black cards in SLI for £100 less than one EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC Ultra? That is the proposition. What are your thoughts?

Solution
The issue with SLI is that there is less support for it as the time passes and performance gain is not worth it on the few that support it .
You must have patience, time to invest to work out the issues yourself by try and error, since SLI is not for the faint of heart.
So two GTX 1080 Ti on SLI might not perform that much better than just one GTX 1080 Ti.

Unless you plan to purchase all the upcoming ray tracing games...? none or one maybe...oh and its PARTIAL ray tracing to say the best oh and if you look at specs the RTX series is faster only because of Ram speeds which can nearly be achieved overclocking GDDR5x anyway...Perhaps some small advantage is gained in non ray tracing games as the tensor cores act as a more efficient cuda core....other than that piss all difference and for the money they are asking I can say Playstation and Xbox must be biting at the bit to drop a PC killing console and i will strongly consider going back to console for gaming just because Nvidia did piss all and tried to bone us all...

go for twin 1080 s. most games SLI well. On the other hand Nvidia is bound to cripple the 10 series once stock is depleted and 2080's start to crowd shelves(already) via driver implementation or other nefarious methods... of course nvidia would never do that......lol
