RTX 2080 safe temps

Hi all, what are the "safe" temps for RTX 2080? The temps I can play normally with, that won't damage my GPU after long, long in-game hours.

Is there a general temp limit for all GPUs/all Nvidia/all AMD GPUs? I think, as the transistors shrink, the safe temps vary, but I may be wrong.

Also, I'm thinking to change the thermal paste (to Noctua NT-H1) on, and overclock the (yet-to-buy) MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio. This is another reason to learn the safe temps.

You want it ideally to be running under 70c, but as long as it's under 85c you probably won't have issues. The card won't have a hard time keeping itself cool as long as you have decent ventilation in whichever enclosure you end up going with. You are also able to set a custom fan curve to keep it in a certain range if you choose to do so

According to Nvidia the RTX 2080 has a maximum GPU temperature of 88C; which is lower than previous generations which were 94C and higher. Normally, staying below 80C was recommended for long-term, safe operating temp. AMD GPUs each have their own max temps as well. I would say 75C and below would be my comfort target with an RTX 2080 and the lower the better.

Thanks to anyone who replied. I watched a couple of videos, and the temps there were 60-ish. So that gives me a hope.

Also, another good question would be where did you take all these numbers from? Is there any reliable source you could guide me to to read?
