Hi I’m getting a gaming pc for Christmas and my parents have gave me a budget of £600-700 plus the money I save myself which will be around £100. What is the best build I can get for this price and should I buy an used gpu or cpu. I was seeing used gtx 1080’s on eBay for £350 with a 2 year warranty and 30 days return. Thanks.

I have not included a Monitor or Windows 10...Windows 10 can be picked up for Ebay for £10 and if you need a monitor, then we might drop down the GPU to a 1050ti instead and maybe the CPU as well. The case can also be changed to suit your choice...

Overall the build is just a starting point and I am sure many others will jump in, but it is a Ryzen 2600 based system with 16GB RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB so will provide great gaming and 1080p and of course will allow you to upgrade further later.

Priced at £748.65

Just realised you mentioned a second hand GTX 1080...which would be perfect....so remove the GTX1060 and squeeze at least £50 out of you parents...Funny, I will be selling my MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X to upgrade to a 2080....So expensive to move up to a 2080 though...

Thank you so much vMax. Also what is the best time to buy pc parts like Black Friday or Boxing Day. I also saw a pc on the Facebook marketplace that’s a year old. It had i7 7700k , Msi gtx 1080 ti, 32 gb ram and 2tb hdd 500gb ssd for £750. Do you think it’s worth it and safe to buy off Facebook marketplace. Thanks.

Black Friday tens to be very good for deals and you should be able to save a bit on the system... As to Facebook Marketplace, I have never used so not too sure, I have used ebay and at least there you have a guarantee from Ebay and providing you are buying from people with a high rating, you never have a problem.

The 7700K looks like a really good deal for the money, especially with a 1080ti and 32GB of RAM...Check the buyer out as that is very good indeed...

That first system looks really great. So use to seeing overpriced weird systems, but this one looks great.

Only thing I would say is consider buying a 500gb ssd now, when gaming it fills fast and you don't want to keep moving files back and forth.

You might want to also consider a rx580 as it performs the same as the 1060, better in some games, worse in others, it's very close between the 2. I would give the edge to the 6gb 1060, but it all comes down to price. If you happen to find a nice 580 that cost 30 or 40 less than a 1060 then it's a steal because the performance difference is less than 10%.

That Facebook system looks like a scam the price is really low

Id look on ebay (from reputable sellers) for 2nd hand parts.
GPU and CPU at least.

You should aim for the best GPU you can get. Older CPUs are still sufficient. Its all about the GPU.
had a look on ebay uk. 1070 are going for ~250 quid. Find a way to fit that in your system.
