Should i have a 256GB SSD and an 1TB HDD or just have a 1TB SSD and clone everything to that 1TB SSD from my HDD? Is there any bad side effects of cloning from an HDD to SSD? Also, do i have to upgrade my power supply if i add an SSD?

A SSD will actually take less power; not that the power required is anything significant.

The only drawback of a SSD is the higher cost per gb.
If you can buy a 1tb ssd for everything, that is wonderful.

If you will be of a mind to clone, I highly recommend you buy a Samsung ssd.
Their free ssd migration tool is trivially easy to run.
After, you can repurpose your HDD for whatever. Backup or bulk video storage for instance.

The Samsung app is a windows C drive mover, not a clone.
A clone is a bit for bit copy.

I think I'm gonna go with straight up replacing the HDD with a 1TB SSD, Do i need any extra connecters or plugs or can i use the plugs that come off of the HDD?

Ok, thanks. Anything else I should look out for?

What is your motherboard?
You may have an option to use a m.2 format ssd.
About the size of a stick of gum. It needs no power or data cable.
It comes in both sata and pcie interface. The pcie interface is faster in sequential operations.
(since most activity is random, is faster sequential is not as important as you might think)

Do not buy a cheap off brand unit. Samsung and Intel are safe.

I just bought a 1TB Samsung SSD. I have a B350M Bazooka motherboard.
