Compatibility of amd 8320 and msi x370

Hey guys,
My MSI 970A-G45 kicked the bucket

So I'm wondering: Is the MSI x370 compatible with the AMD 8320?

And anything else I should be mindful of regarding the x370? I have patriot ram and a 660 geforce from some years back.

Absolutely not.

If you want the X370 chipset, you'll need a Ryzen (AM4) CPU and DDR4 RAM.

Nope. That motherboard requires an AM4 processor (you have an AM3+ processor). It also requires DDR4 RAM, of which you have DDR3.

Okay, so what would be a suitable replacement for the MSI 970A? Another 970A or... ?

If you can find the same motherboard again that would work, but really any AM3+ motherboard will do.

So something like a GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 would suffice, any criticisms of mobos in this range for a semi-old rig ?

Thatll just about handle an 8350 (its better than your previous msi board for starters) & is pretty much the only board under £100 nowadays.
That is assuming you're usa based ?

Its not an incredible board but neither was your msi.

Yes itll handle an 8320, just dont expect to be overclocking on it.

no overclocking here, just looking for reliable gaming rather than OC, no overheats and compatibility, will this thing mount correctly with a Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower Desktop Case RC-912-KKN1?
