Is the Ryzen 3 1200 for 54 pounds on ebay a good deal (used)?

I am thinking of upgrading to Ryzen from the i5 4460. I have a limited budget of 200-300 pounds but would like to spend the cheapest possible. Should I get the Ryzen 3 1200 now and then save up for the 1700x? I can then get a good motherboard and start with 8gb of ram and get 16gb when prices drop. I have a micro atx case, GTX 1060 3gb, 450 watt SilverStone PSU, 525gb Crucial SSD, 1TB WD Blue HDD, a 23 inch 1080p monitor. For playing games on medium-high settings at 1080p would a Ryzen 3 1200 be okay?

The performance difference between an i5-4460 and a Ryzen 1200 would not likely be too noticeable, and would probably not be worthwhile due to the requirement for a new motherboard and RAM. A big platform upgrade like that would probably only make sense if you were moving to one of the current-generation 6-core processors like the previously-mentioned 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 2600, which will likely remain relevant longer.

Even your existing processor should still handle most games well enough though, so you could probably stand to wait a while and see what the next generation of CPUs has to offer. AMD will likely be launching faster 7nm chips within the next half-year or so.

Are there any games that you are currently having performance issues with?
