I have copied my D partion to another HDD. It contains Microsoft docs and spread sheets. I go into disk management but when I right click on the D partition, format is greyed out.
It is down as Healthy (page file, Primary partition)
Don't ask me why it is a primary one.

The C partition has windows on it.

C: System, boot,Active, Crash dump, primary partition
D: Page file, primary partition
E: primary partition
F: Logical drive
G: Logical drive

I am not trying to partition the D. It is a partition of the HDD. I want to format the partition.

This is ONE HDD
C: System, boot,Active, Crash dump, primary partition
D: Page file, primary partition
E: primary partition
F: Logical drive
G: Logical drive

How do I remove page file and how did it get there. Al I did with this disk is right click in disk management and create a partition type in the size in MB and repeat untill I had all my partitions. How it ended up like this god knows.

Is page file the same as a swap file? Back in the late 80s, memory was expensive and windows used part of a HDD as virtual memory. These days memory is a lot cheaper. I have 16G of DDR3. I don't need this.

Googling this. I have gone to SystemPropertiesAdvanced . Remove tick from automatically manage page files. Reboot but no difference. If I have to have this can I move it to the G partition?

Diskpart is a utility that is used from the command line to manage partitions, one of the options includes formatting the partition. First you need to move the swap file / page file. See this Microsoft document for more information about diskpart https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-vista/cc766465(v=ws.10)
