Does Cleaning HD Disks - Improve or Help?

I was wondering is there really any benefit to deep cleaning a ssd or HD after using it for months? If I was to backup a disk, clean it in diskpart then restore it would there be any benefit or would it just be a plosebo effect?

For an SSD you won't notice anything because of TRIM and some other clever software.
For a HDD you may find a 1% improvement, but doubtful. The only way it would be improved if it was optimised and data was stored on the fastest part of the disk with no gaps, which is what defragging sort of does.
So the long and the short of it - No.

Only thing that might help with would be counteracting passive demagnetization, while introducing another two Copy events to the chain, thus increasing chances to corrupt data.
I suggest defragmenting HDDs periodically, while also keeping separate backups.
Deleting data and restoring its backup does not seem to be worthwhile - when no device failure has occurred.

Just a feel good placebo at best.

For an HDD, let the OS do whatever defrag is set up.
For an SSD, TRIM.
