What sort of FPS would I get on mainstream games like GTA 5, Assassin's Creed, Overwatch with this set up? AMD Ryzen 2600x, GTX 1060 6GB, AM4 Mobo, 2x4GB DDR4 RAM.

Easily max every AAA game 60+ fps. You can even run most games around 60fps 1440p high setting. 2600 and rx480 yet to find a game I can't max at 60fps. A couple games I might turn a shadow down to medium or high to help with busy area for any dips, but will easily handle everythi g

Maybe you can get peak fps to 60. But you are not averaging 60fps in every AAA game.

I should have worded that better, not every single one. I did mention that, but it was after I said that I haven't found any. I should have said I haven't found a game I can't play at or extremely close to 60fps at max settings or close to it visually.

Take assassins creed origins. If I run it on high preset I get around 51/53, the lows aren't too bad, it's fairly smooth. Once I tweak it slightly to where you literally can not spot the differences unless you took multiple screenshots and really studied them for a while, it makes a big difference. It runs pretty steadily right at 58 and a few upper 40s dips at some of the tougher spots. This game just doesn't run well for amd though. My friend has a 1060 6gb and 2600x, we both ran the game at 3.9 on all cores and he barely clears 60 on high preset. I think this changes within a couple of months.

Now some of these newer games coming out like cyberpunk 2077 in sure will need more gpu power. I'm so hyped about that game I will buy a new GPU if needed.

Most games though I clear 60fps as is on max settings. Then I turn resolution scale as high as I can go, usually around 120% until it it drops below 60. Then I tweak what I can't actually spot the differences in. Usually this will be checking shadows and turning them from max to high or very high. Then squeeze out another in 10% on the resolution scale and I'm good to go.

Personally I prefer less aliasing vs a shadow that you can't spot in real time and would be very hard pressed to spot the difference even if you looked at 2 screenshots for less than 20 or 30 seconds, shit some games you can't even tell. This does vary from game to game because others you can clearly spot the difference. Here are some of my experiences.

Destiny 2 is smooth 60 and I do this with the shadow high and run resolution scale at 130%, sometimes in areas it drops to low 50s.

Hit man 2016 easily hits 60fps maxed out. I turn shadows on high / high and resolution scale to 120%, sometime it dips to like 53, but runs really great.

Witcher 3, only played a little to test difference when changing the cpu and it was really smooth 60fps.

Overwatch runs at 150% resolution scale and I cap at 60. I want to say it hits around 80ish with no cap on this setting and it was 100+ when I first benchmarked max setting 100% scale. This was while using an i5 4460, I haven't even played this since moving to ryzen.

The division, a game I have a lot of time in. Required a lot of tweaking when I had an i5 4460. Had to run it on mostly medium and cap it at like 53, but didn't dip much. Now it's mostly maxed with fog and local reflections on medium and cap at 57, very smooth as well. This is another one that runs better on a 1060 with about a 10% increase. My friend with the 1060 doesn't have this to test it, but in benchmarks I've seen it always win by roughly 10%.

Watchdogs 2 is another I have to tweak a bit to get 60fps avg. On ultra it's in the 40s, but this is one of the worst games when you compare performance hit vs visual impact. Gain almost 40% fps turning preset down one. Run it on a custom mix with high being the minimum and runs smooth at 60.

Weird thing is how good For Honor ran at 60fps max preset no problems, even have the room to render above 1080p.

The OP cpu and gpu is faster than what I am using, they are close overall, but he will perform even better.

I would also recommend to have 16gb ram instead of 8gb ram for better fps. But if you have a 60hz monitor than keep 8 if you have 144hz monitor i recommend 16gb ram.

I think you will easily get 60+ frame rates at medium to high setting on 1080p resolution
