z77 Extreme 4 cpu overclock issue

So I am trying to overclock my i5 3570k on the ASRock Z77 Extreme4

My issue is when I set my CPU to all clocks and select a higher clock speed than the default boost speed the bios automatically sets the core speed from 40 back down to the CPU's default boost speed being 38 and when typing in another core clock such as 41 or 42 they are also switched back to 38.

the board also doesn't recognise all 4 ram slots and only recognises 2 ram slots

Any ideas on how this could be fixed? :)

Have you tried doing it on Manual right, and try disable turbo boost, did you set a voltage, voltage above 4.1ghz should be 1.30v and as for the ram see if you are adding in right slot, usually the 4 slots are marked A1 A2 B1 B2 so I presume that you have added the 2 sticks on A1 and B1 and the 3rd stick on A2.

The only way I have tried is manually and I did try disabling turbo boost but that just makes the core speed 38 and wont go higher I haven't messed with the voltage as I just want to be able to set my core speed higher to start with. I have 4 pieces of exactly the same memory only 2 are recognised by the board in the bios but cpu-z sees all 4 slots filled 4x4gb and I switched to 2x8gb to combat the issue as the board does see 2 slots instead of 4. The pieces are in slots 1 and 3.

Hi I tried that when i change it from 34 the default to 40 and press enter it gets changed back to 38 instead of 40 I'm not sure why.
