Gigabyte b360 hd3 bios no xmp option

Im going crazy...my bios is showing me that my dram frequency is 1860mhz and not 2400mhz like it is need to be
and i cant find no xmp profile option most of the memory editing options are either greyed out or i ant simply click on them
i updated the bios to the latest version
memory : hyper x 2x8gb ddr4 2400mhz

Yes, in that case if you've tried other DIMMS, then yes, most certainly return the mobo. It could be a faulty DIMM slot or other mobo component.
It shouldn't need an XMP profile. It should just be in the standard memory speed tab. It should give you the options to choose: 2133/2400/2666 etc for that mobo, without having to enable XMP for faster OC'ed DIMMS.


double check with CPUz. Open it, look at mem tab and speed tab. Take screenshots of both and post so we can see.
 
Okay, lets try and set timings manually: 18-17-17-39-55. Have you access to manual timings? Can you show a screenshot of the bios with the memory options? It may be you have to select an option to 'ungrey' the timings section, and manual input.

Did you check to see if those mem modules are on the QVL (qualified vendor list), which ensures compatibility. That could be problematic otherwise.

Actually, I just checked, it is on the QVL, so it should be seamless use.

I'm not 100% sure, but that first shot shows the ram running at frequency (2400)

With regard to the other options, they are all on auto. When you highlight each one, lets say memory sub timings, then you should be able to select auto or manual, then i expect the greyed out bits will be available. When you highlight an option with the arrow keys, press enter to see if the option comes up to switch from auto to manual.

You could try a CMOS reset. If you upgraded the bios to the latest (which you should do), sometime the upgrade doesn't 'take' until you do a CMOS rest. This involves taking out a the CMOS battery and switching a jumper. It's easy to do, providing you read you manual as that will give specific instructions for your mobo. Then boot up after CMOS reset, and enter bios and let us know what happens.

it's pretty abvious to me to select a setting and press enter ..even if it's not greyed out i can't touch it
someone on the steam forums told me that the settings are "locked" becuase i have a b360 motherboard and they are unlocked on z 370
 


Yes, a CMOS rest could defo help, and is what most people will recommend after a Bios upgrade.

I wasn't trying to be rude, by telling you how to activate options, but rather just being complete.

What CPU is in your system? According to the manual it must have an 8th gen CPU to use XMP. That may or may not have an impact with your issue.

Try the CMOS reset, and let us know how you get on. It could simply be that.

After that, it could be one of two things: Mobo, or the DIMMS themselves. It might be that you have to consider returning them and getting something else.

I'm actually scratching my head a little. The DIMMS are on the QVL for your mobo, the mobo should automatically pick them up (but it's not) and all the options are greyed out.

You have an excellent CPU. One of the best gamers out there. You have paired it with a B360 though, and that limits the potential of the CPU. The Z370 do offer more options for OC'ing, both CPU and mem, so there is that aspect. With that said you should at least be able to set your current DIMMS to work correctly from a simple menu option and/or set the timings manually.
 
hmm, i'm running out of ideas. I'd suggest it's possibly a faulty mobo, or DIMMS and the only real way to know for sure is to try one or the other in different systems to see if they work. Otherwise you have to consider returning one or both the memory or mobo.
