Hello.

So a friend of mine bought a projector (Panasonic LB78V) for us to use to project stuff for our church services. This brand of projector is pretty old-school and does not come with a HDMI port (does have VGA). Our laptop of use, Lenovo Y40-70, however, does have HDMI port but not VGA. SO I bought a converter thinking that would make everything work out. However, the projector does not pick up any connection to the laptop after connecting the converter. Any help or suggestions on how to solve this?

Did you try other project with this converter? When you connect them, is there any warning in your computer?
In general, you should change your computer EDID setting.
As you said, your projector is pretty old-school, clicking Control Panel, and under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
So change your setting to find proper resolution.
If nothing still happen, please try another vga device.
If the adapter can't work, you need to buy a new one.
I bought one in amazon, here is the link:

It's convenient to shopping online, so is the return policy.
