Noticable drop in CPU Performance

Hey guys,

admittedly my system has never been the most powerful, and quite old by now at that. But it has always been just enough to enjoy gaming at decent graphics at solid 60 FPS. Never had any perfomance issues until about the start of the year. It started off with Battlefield 1 which I occasionally look into. Was able to play that on 1920x1080 on low-medium settings, without issues. Played Mafia 3 with no issues some 2 years ago.

Now these games are pretty much unplayable for me. 100% CPU usage on low res. To a point where it bottlenecks so hard, my GPU is idlling at ~50-60% usage (BF1)
Ran the Intel DiagnosticTool and it passed. Temps are fine. Drivers are up to date. Looked on benchmark sites etc for any comparisons, and according to most of them my GPU should be the bottleneck, not the other way around. Struggling to find a solution, and I have the slight suspicion it may have something to do with the whole Spectre stuff? Highly appreciate any input.

My System:

Intel i5-4670
ASUS GTX 760 2gb
H87- Plus
8gb Ram DDR3 @ 1600 Mhz

I would think the GTX760 to be unsuitable for BF1 for anything above 1320x768....; I'd I'm rather surprised it played at 1080P earlier, frankly....

you are also short on RAM now, as 8 GB is increasingly limiting within Win10 and games that need 4-6 GB on their own, etc...

It did handle these games pretty decently tbh, I wish I had any benchmarks from back then to compare them to. But as far as the GPU goes, only real issue I ran into so far is the lack of memory. Before I can make real use of the GPUs power, the CPU is bottlenecking.
