Hello,

I have a Huawei P20 smartphone. It has 4k ( 3840 x 2160 ) features for recording videos and taking pictures, since it has more than 20 MP camera. Yet, the display of the smarthone is Full HD. I don't understand how can a Full HD display read 4k content ( pictures and videos ). I thought this was not possible. It's the same as if your trying to watch a 4k movie on a Full HD screen. How does this work ? can someone explain ?

Thank you very much.

Alex.

Right. The pic you take will be 3840 x 2160. It will either show up at this res on a 4k monitor, or will get scaled down to whatever size monitor you use. (1080, 720, etc.) It doesn't change the source file when it does this. Think of it like upscaling if that helps.

Ok, so basically if I take a picture at 5120 x 3840 , my phone will scale this down to a Full HD resolution in order for the screen to process it. And if i take the picture and put it on higher resolution screen, I will ( theoretically ) see more pixels ?

You mean to pic I take will be 5120 x 3180 ( that's the resoluation i proposed in the last message ), and it will scale down to 1080 if I read it from my smartphone

I have the option to choose a higher resolution than 4k , like 5120 x 3840., at least that's what i see on my phone
