My friend and I just put my new build together (I watched and he constructed) and after various tweaks and fixes we got it running as intended. This morning I turned on, downloaded a couple things I use regularly, discord and bnet launcher. 20 minutes into being up an running and no real load on the computer the screen went black, it shut down and powered back up to the point where the screen was still black and unresponsive but the fans were running at max rpm.

Part list

Ryzen 7 2700X
EVGA RTX 2080
ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F
NZXT KRAKEN X62 liquid cooler
Ripjaw G SKILL 16X2
EVGA supernova 750w G3

Solution

The reason Im asking is this is basically happening to me but I have a different mobo but from what I was reading is that this is an ASUS/ASROCk specific problem and it is seeming related to the sensors on the boards and AURA. At first I had no issues with the system but I wasnt doing anything too intensive on it. Then I noticed when I started to do heavy workloads I would get sudden black screens like your describing. None of the solutions suggested has helped me in anyway

sounds like over heating.

First up turn it off and let it cool down (hour or so).

Start up into BIOS and look at CPU temperatures.

Did you use thermal paste when you mounted the Heatsink, I trust you only used a small (pea size) drop.

I had actually already been monitoring the cpu temperature because we had had 2 hiccups when installing the AIO once where we were getting no read and after fixing it the software refused to work. The cpu was fluctuating between 40c-50c. As for the paste I got a ryzen 7 2700x and apparently they come with paste pre applied so we actually applied none.
