AMD A10-7870k upgrade

Am I able to upgrade from an A8 to this in my pc. I added a Nvidia graphics card earlier in the year but the pc still does not play games

If this CPU shows up as supported by your motherboard, you can - but I suggest you look at Athlon CPUs for the same socket instead of the APU, as they could be slightly cheaper and as powerful as the A10.

The difference between a a8 7600 and athlon 860 is minimal in terms of performance and is basically just wasting money for maybe not even a 10% performance boost.

It is an AMD A8-6600K APu, ram 8GB

What card are you using?

In terms of cpu upgrades you are out of luck. Between your A8 and the best cpu you can get on the fm2 platform there is about a 18% performance increase for a lot of money and that cpu can't even play modern games. All in all if you want a better cpu it's going to be time to upgrade to a new platform.

What are the full system specs? With the psu give the model so we know what it is.
