I'm using a NETGEAR WG111 V2 USB WiFi adapter for my connection. My problem is most of the time when I'm trying to use the internet, mostly for games I can look at the Performance windows in Task Manager and see that my receive speed ranges from 0-8 Kbps which really sucks, however when I'm using Chrome it suddenly spikes to 5 Mbps whenever a website loads. When the website is done loading it drops back down to 8 Kbps. Not only does the speed the of the website that is loading increase the download speed of the game I was getting for example also went up. If I were to just download a game then the spike would not occur and I'd be stuck at 8 Kbps. It's almost as if Chrome requests extra packets from the router.
