Hello friends

I am using xfx nforce 630i since 2009 with intel e5200 dual processor. Now I want to upgrade it with intel core 2 quad 45nm processor. When I Install q9550, it hangs every time when window boots up.

I just wanted to know that do this motherboard supports 45nm cpu ? As per xfx nforce 630i cpu support list, it does supports intel core2quad q9550 but its not working.

Going from memory the Nvidia chipsets supported 45nm CPUs, but only dual cores. It can run quads, but only the 65nm chips. I don't remember why it couldn't run the 45nm quads.

I'm not sure why the Q8xxx CPUs aren't there, but looking at the list the NF6 series boards don't handle 1333MHz. At least not officially. My guess is simply that the Q9550 isn't supported by your board. I'm surprised you said it's on the support list.

I think that list is wrong. They reversed the 680 and 630 sections. On the first page it says the 680 can run the QX9650 while the 630 can't. Then on page two it says the 680 can't run the Q9650 while the 630 can. The only thing I can think of is they reversed the columns by accident and then the info matches with what I posted. 1066FSB quads are ok on the 630, 1333FSB quads aren't. I really feel those columns should be reversed.
