Some Downloads Are Getting Pass My VPN

Hi All, I have Wins 7 and my Web Browser is Opera which has its own VPN which the IP is set in Asia. But sometimes when I am DL some shows the odd one is picked up by my server. Please does any one know why this is happening,and how to stop it from happening again.

A browser based vpn only provides vpn services for stuff that is browser based. The downloads may be using something else to download. I know that flash based stuff many times would not use the proxy settings. Hard to say if that is the same issue. Any other programs like games or say steam are not browser based and will not use the vpn.

This is why vpn services load special software on machines. It will create a virtual network card that all applications will use. Some stuff can still bypass the vpn clients. DNS is the highest risk and does on some clients likely because they were poorly written. I know things like mircosoft update bypass many also.

The only 100% sure way that a PC can not bypass the vpn is to use a router based VPN. The software on the PC has no way to even know there is a vpn so it can not accidentally or on purpose send the data to anything other than the router.
