Please Help need to decide.... Should I go with AMD Ryzen™ 5 2500U Quad-Core (2 GHz, up to 3.6 GHz, 6 MB cache)+AMD Radeon™ Vega 8 Graphics+16GB DDR4(onboard)

or with the AMD Ryzen™ 7 2700U (2 GHz, up to 3.8 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores)+AMD Radeon™ Vega 10 Graphics++8GB DDR4(onboard)

Please your expertise would be appreciated. Which is better? Thanks

Ryzen 5 2500U with Vega 8.

Even though the Ryzen 7 with Vega 10 is faster by technical specifications, the thermals of such a machine will cause it to suffer performance hit along with the fact that your graphics performance is pretty limited due to the onboard graphics using your system RAM as it's graphics memory and laptop DDR4 memory isn't that fast.

So overall the performance difference would be marginal between the two and since the Ryzen 5 system comes with 16GB of RAM, that is the one I would personally choose.

Since in a normal situation where you have an actual GPU that has it's own memory, 8GB of system memory would be fine even today (although it skirts the line of minimum specs with most AAA titles these days). However, you are using an APU instead, and since that shares usage of your system memory along with the fact that your system memory is still needed for it's usual purpose in gaming, having the extra RAM will benefit you greatly.

Thank you! I will be using it mainly for photo editing and video editing, perhaps some streaming and definitely a lot of work, so production. Word, Excel, etc... Oh and occasional Netflix. Not much of a gamer but there are some old titles I intend to load up and play like Generals and Command and Conquer which are my favs.
