i found a program here: https://biosagentplus.com/

but many are saying to not use it:http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-3455661/warning-biosagentplus.html & http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-2422936/biosagentplus-safe.html

so could someone walk me through the process? if possible....

my bios & motherboard info:

BIOS Type:AMI
BIOS Date:December 1st, 2009
BIOS ID:v1.04
BIOS OEM:v1.04
Chipset:Intel 2E20 rev 3
SuperIO:Unknown
Make/Model:Hewlett-Packard HP Pro 3000 Microtower PC

Motherboard MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD 3664h

i want to update it for when i get a gpu (msi gtx 710) to install. unless updating my bios isn't necessary to install that gpu on this old motherboard.

thanks 4 any help you can give

I agreed that too, don't use it.

Because you had the HP pc, you should go to HP site for info.
1) Download the BIOS https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pro-3000-microtower-pc/4047650
2) Update the BIOS for HP pc, Make sure you have to update the BIOS or not. Like this from HP https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00007682

"Updating the BIOS should only be done when:
An available BIOS update resolves a specific issue or improves computer performance.
The current BIOS does not support a hardware component or a Windows upgrade.
HP support recommends installing a specific BIOS update."
