It worked and my boot time is drastically reduced , programs boot faster, machine runs cooler. But on a usb 3 connection my transfer rates were up to 4mb/s, 316 gb took 19 hours !!! So my question is, is that normal? It was a flawless clone but dang !
Mid 2012 macbook pro 15", 2.6 ghz I7 8 gb ram
Sabrent usb 3 to sata for ssd
Mac Hdd 750 gb 7200 rpm
samsung evo 860 1tb
latest version of super duper
Mac High Sierra

That is really slow. Did you do any first aid on the disk you were cloning before doing it? If there were any issues there it could slow it down. I use SuperDuper all the time and it has never taken that long.
Have you benchmarked the new drive (BlackMagic works) to make sure you are getting advertised read/write? Have you turned on trim?
That is very slow for a clone on Windows. Using Macrium I typically see speeds in the 100ish/MBsec. The one time I did a clone of a Mac HDD was onto a NAS and it took forever and had similar speeds. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple did something to make it such that clones take a long time if they aren't via Time Machine.

I did do first aid. As we know , if the drive is mounted it wont be a complete service, same is true of defragmenting on a running windows hdd. I didnt benchmark it, its a samsung evo 860, i just figured it would transfer faster. It could be that first aid didnt do anything to organize the files better (dunno). Im new to teching macs as of the last 5 years but only in the last year did i get into terminal and advanced concepts, i figure its probably due to user error. I did a first aid on both drives respectively, unmounted , after the transfer. I didnt realize my hdd was a 5400 rpm on the mac, so my boot and execute speeds are at least 4 times faster. I did look into reviews on the current evo model, its a bit slower than its predecessor, but overall its a solid drive.

I just benchmarked it i was running other programs so it didnt fare well but it was several hundred times over 4 mbp/s , 160 or something, read speeds were around 417
Write Speed: 189 MB/s
Read Speed: 417 MB/s
