Hey All,

This is something that had been bugging me for a while. Why does HW Monitor list my #1 cpu core as "core 0"?

Doesn't "zero" denote the absence of a unit of the measurement or count being taken?

Obviously this is one of the really big questions of our time, but I'm sure there's someone here who can enlighten the rest of us dum dums......

Thanks :)

Solution
Read the "origin" section of that wikipedia page. Sounds like there was a practical reason to do so at one point early on in the history of computer science, and it sort of just stuck around and became a convention.

Do you know why they choose to use this numbering format.... Is there a practical reason for it?
