Guys should i upgrade my CPU at this time. My setup is 5 years old
I have Intel i3 4130
Radeon xfx r9 280x
Gigabyte H97 Mobo
DDR3 8gb Ram.

I was thinking of buying an used Xeon e3 1231v3, it costs me here around 100 Euros on ebay.
I use my PC for gaming and also not that hardocre gaming, but still want some FPS.
The question is, will this CPU bring me some moderat to drastic upgrade to it, Or it is not worth it at this point, better to save up later and get a whole new rig. Thanks!

CPUs are generally fine, you shouldn't have any issues with a second hand one.
A used RX580 has likely been used for mining, best thing to do is ask the seller about it and see if it has been used for mining or not, even if it has been used for mining they could always lie about it and just by looking at the card there's no real way to tell.
It all depends if you are willing to buy a card that has been used for mining, there are 2 sides to the argument and each have their own valid arguments.
There is always a risk with buying used parts, if you are buying locally and can test and see the card working then there shouldn't be any issues.
Buying from ebay? Well there is always paypals buyers protection.

Not worth it mate to be honest. The 100 Euro's is much better off saved for a better CPU, Motherboard and RAM upgrade than on a change to a XEON processor.

Here is a comparison of the two CPU's, from a gaming perspective i would expect ~10% improvement in your computers performance, if that, as it is still going to be limited by the 8GB of DDR3 and the older motherboard.... If you think that is worth 100 Euro's its your call mate but personally i would save up for an upgrade to something that could house an i5-8400 or i7-8700 or a Ryzen 2600.

Are you planning on upgrading your graphics card any time soon? The 280x isn't really powerful enough to take advantage of a better CPU, except for maybe thread heavy games.
If you plan on getting a better graphics card soon, say an RX 580, GTX 1060 or better then i would say it's a good upgrade.
Not sure what the used market is like where you are, but converting 100 Euros to AUD that's ~160, that's a pretty good price here for that CPU.
You would want to grab another 8gb of memory as well.
You can always sell your i3 to recoup some of the money.

The Xeon will be good for another couple of years, can't say the same for the i3.

This is just my 2 cents, the userbenchmark website is complete garbage and shouldn't be used to compare performance.

Im looking to stay with this PC for about 2-3 Years more. Im considering your option Hamster, I can get also a used RX580 for 170 euros, sell my current for 60-70. Also sell mine i3 for 30-40 euros. And so the upgrade with used parts will cost me around 150 Euros, the main concern is how good are those used parts ... till now only bought new ones...
