Try putting the broken stick of RAM into the slot that works. Does it work? If so, there might be a problem with the motherboard slot. Also, try wiping of any dust off the stick. That also might be the problem.

I don't have any broken sticks, but i put my ram memory in antoher motherboard and it works perefctly.. I have one stick of 8gb too, a d when i put it, it doesn't work too.. This stick of 8gb is totaly new, so i think that i have any of softwer problem because motherboard need to load 16gb ram, but it doesn't want over 4gb, i don't know why....

Hmmm... Go into the BIOS and see if the stick is being detected by the motherboard. This only works on Windows 7.

If that doesn't work, try using the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool.
