Where can I track all my Internet data usage for my modem/router?

I use comcast, and they limit you to 1024gb a month, and you pay $10 per 50gb you go over. But 1TB is usually plenty. On average my girlfriend and I use about 600-700gb.

I play games, she streams music, and we both stream movies at night. She works 1st shift and I work 2nd. So a TV is usually always on. But just last week we used 500gb in one week. Ending the month at 1300gb. But for the past like, 2 years we've lived here, we've always only gotten as high as about 800gb in a month. But normally 600-700 a month. And even now, in just the past 2 days, we've used 200gb already!

So at that rate, we'd be hitting 3TB in the month. Paying like $400 for the over usage. Which just blows my mind!

The only difference we've made to our internet usage that I know of is,

1, I added a Ethernet cable to the PS4 in the living room, to speed up a download of the new Red Dead Redemption 2. Which is about 100gb. But using a cable instead of wifi shouldn't make a difference I don't think.

2, We got a subscription to Hulu, but Hulu shouldn't take up much more data then Netflix. Would it?

I figured we went over last month because of me downloading RDR2, but not 500gb over our norm. And that wouldn't make us use 200gb in just the last 2 days.

The devices we have are,
1, A DVD player in our bedroom for Netflix(And now Hulu).
2, Her laptop for her schooling, and to listen to music while she does homework.
3, The PS4 in the living room, for some games and streaming movies.
4, My computer that I do a lot of gaming on, and watching Youtube at times.
5, A tablet that I use for Youtube at times if I play a grindy game, like WOW.
6, And our Phones that we use wifi with sometimes. But we both only used roughly 15gb of wifi with those.

I found a way to track the usage on my PC, and it shows the computer system used 500gb in the past 30 days. Which is alot I think. But still not 1300gb.

But why would my computers "System" program use 500gb in a month? The next highest was Chrome at like, 50gb. And Steam at like 40ish.

But sorry for the long post. But does anyone know of a way I could track down where all the data is going? Or what might be causing it all? And what is the System program that's using 500gb on my computer over the course of a month?

And just incase, 2 days ago I told my girlfriend not to use Hulu for awhile, and I unpluged the PS4, but it still used 200gb in 2 days!

Thanks for any and all help! I'd hate to have to lose my internet over this. No way I can afford another $400 or whatever it'd cost a month!

That shows how much data I've used. But doesn't say how it was used though. Like what device and etc. You know what I mean? I'm just confused how my data usage doubled this month, compared to every other month in the past 2 years. Wondering where it all went.

Have to be careful what you're reading there.
That graph shows all data through that PC's LAN port. Not necessarily out to the internet.

This is my system for the last 30 days.

The almost 1TB from "reflectbin.exe" ?
That's simply daily backups going to the NAS. None of that goes out through the router.

Ahh. Dang, was hoping I atleast found the problem. But maybe not. But do you know of a program, or a way to track all the data my router/modem are sending? And to which devices? I know comcast has a "Total" data used, but it doesn't say anything about how or etc it was used. Makes it hard to find my problem, of using double the data I normally use all of a sudden.

That level of info can only be tracked by a border device...the router.
And most home routers are not smart enough to record all that.

Alright. Thanks for the help. Guess I'll do the ol, "shut off that device for a day and see what the usage looks like the following day". Rinse and repeat and hope I find the problem!

Ya, u want detailed accounting information, that would be nice isn't it.

As somebody already touched on it, whatever is logging this MUST sit at a place where all Internet traffic goes through. So an hardware firewall, or your head router, sometimes a managed switch would have such functionality, but u gotta spend some $ to buy something better than what's available from Best Buys.

I use Comcast Xfinity and their xfi service tracks each individual device's usage. I had this same problem and pinpointed it down to my firestick (Grandma came to visit and streams videos 24/7). You can use xfi through your account on the website or they have an app.
