How can I over clock the ram on a gigabyte z270 gaming k3? I am running an i5 7600k with ddr4 3000 corsair rgb ram. I have no problem getting the cpu to 4.2 or 4.4ghz, but the system crashes as soon as I enable XMP (all done by following gigabytes overclocking instructions, as well as using the instructions in the manual) to get it from 2133 to the 3000. I know it is possible, as I bought the ram after reading posts on how many were using it successfully with this combo. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated (then I will try building my own with g-skill trident z 3200 ram :)).

Hi pboal :)

Your i5 7600k official supports DDR4-2133/2400MHz so 3000Mhz is reliant on the IMC but should work.

Your MB does support 3000MHz RAM however this is OC ram and not the JDEC standard and would require some Bios tweaking as the XMP profile is not working.

The tweaking will involve some changes to Primary Timings and voltage so first, manually configure with XMP disabled. Try upping DRAM voltage to 1.4v or loosen Primary timings by one point. Also try a 2T command rate.

If still unsuccessful then list the exact P/N of your DIMMs.
