Vhs to PC

Hello guys,im trying to transfer vhs to pc,but i only get black and white video output. Any ideea? cant find anything on google about this problem or how to resolve it,im lost.

Your best bet is the DVD combo you can rip from DVD after you copy the tape to DVD. and that should solve the problem. As for your problem who knows we don’t even have any details on your hardware

Well the vhs is a Philips Vr 550 and the capture card is VGB100, even if i change the video settings from PAL to NTSC or SECAM its still black and white, The Vhs tapes are from 1992.

Parents wedding,and my baptism, for the wedding vhs tapes i have color i just tried them now,they are RAKS Videocassettes e-180, but the one from my baptism( Panasonic E-180 SP) I can only get black and white. I guess ill deal with it like this,no ideea why that one is black and white and those ones are color.

Yeah. No idea why the color is being lost. You've tried the different signals (NTSC, SECAM, PAL) and it's still all the same? Was the video recorded using SP speed or LP/ELP?

If memory serves:

On VHS tapes, there were typically three different recording speeds: SP (about two hours/best quality), LP (about three hours/decent quality), and ELP (about six hours/low quality). If the recording speed was longer than SP, the lower quality video might be what is causing the loss of color when trying to digitize.

Again, I'm just guessing here and not being too helpful in resolving the issue.

No. I haven't done any video capture since my ATI All-In-Wonder video card days (Windows XP Era).

When you connect your VHS to regular TV using same connection as the capture card, do you see color?

Yes i see color,i was able to make it color,i had to change the software. The software wich came with the capture card was bugged i think. No ideea,but with another one,was fine! Thanks guys for every answer!
