Samsung 970 EVO 500gb Slow Speed on ASUS ZenBook UX430UQ

Hi,

I've recently upgraded the ssd drive on my laptop to 970 EVO 500 gb. Below is a screenshot of my motherboard specs:

I'm getting less than full functionality of the drive as you can see below:

the dtick IS connected through PCI e 3.0 x4 (see picture below):

I'm totally frustrated, had high hopes for this beautiful piece of hardware. Is this due to some sort of limitation caused by my laptop's motherboard?

P.S.: The latest firmware is downloaded and installed from Samsung. My Bios is up to date, and all hardware drivers are installed through their latest versions.

There is an anomaly here for sure, in two ways. The aspect that troubles me is shown on the
Magician start page

This page intends to show several conditions of the disk listed at the top, here described as the "970 EVO 500 GB".

But instead the page lists the storage data for two disks, C and D neither of which appear to be the EVO. First, why two ? I have three Samsung drives and while the start screen can be switched to show the several disks, it only puts up the data one disk at a time.

Second, the total for capacity doesn't match the size shown for each disk . Total capacity is shown as 466 GB but adding the individual capacities gives 417 . 466 is a reasonable available size for the 500 GB EVO but otherwise I fail to see the EVO referenced in the capacity data anywhere.

Houston we have a problem !

Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply. The C and D sections in the Magician preview image refer to partitions of the disk. I partitioned the disk into two separate drive so I wouldn't lose personal data each time I clean installed Windows (maybe patitioning the disk has something to do with the lower speeds I get?). The disk itself is formatted as GPT and the partitions are in NTFS.

Also, the to partitions add up to 419 gb, which is 47gb short of 466. This is so because Magician suggested I keep 10% of the disk space as some sort of reservoir to improve lifelong of the disk (10% is roughly equal to that 47gb which is missing), and I did because it is unlikely that I would use that storage capacity with all my external drives.

I hope these pieces of info could further help in resolving the mystery!

Ok, just merged everything into a single drive (here), and ran the test. Results were the same, so I didn't bother running all the items.

I searched my make and model in the crucial test webpage and though the motherboard supports the M.2 2280 form factor, no NVMe storage drive was suggested as compatible, so I'm just going to assume the mainboard isn't capable of processing the maximum speed!
