Every other time i boot up my computer it asks me to reboot and select a boot disk

Hi, I have windows 7 and i have a hdd and an ssd. My main windows is on my ssd and my hdd broke a while back. Ever since it broke, when i boot up windows it gives me the black screen with white text on it saying to reboot and select a disk to boot from. So i go into my bios and a window pops up asking me which one do i choose. I select the samsung 850 evo ssd and when i next boot it it boots off the ssd however when i boot it for the third time it goes back to the black text asking me to reboot. I've tried changing the load order and nothings changed. I've tried to unplug the hdd but then it goes back to the black screen every time and my computer is then not functional no matter how much i reboot. This is very annoying since ever since I've changed my monitor my system takes a long time to boot up and i think it has something to do with the ssd-hdd conflict rather than monitor itsself. I've just plugged the hdd back in and although i cant use it to store data on, my computer still detects it. I have been doing this cycle for a while now but it is getting very frustrating so any help would be appreciated

Is your CMOS battery getting low maybe? that might stop the boot order from staying set after a shut down.

Also what you describe sounds like windows was installed with both hard drives connected and windows has hidden some boot files on your HDD (it does that) so that it needs both connected to work. So if your hdd is faulty but still has boot files on it that could explain this behaviour. Here are a couple of links that might help with that

Yeah so i did what was said on the video and it worked so thank you very much for the help! also i know this isn't really related to the issue but it takes my system about 50 seconds from the time i click the button to boot my pc for the monitor and windows to start booting up. I noticed this has been the case since I've changed my monitor, prior to this it was booting up quickly almost immediately after i clicked the button. thanks in advance :)

The delay could also be caused by the hdd that is causing the other issues, if the fix worked as above you should be able to disconnect and boot to test that now. Otherwise I have no Idea what would cause the delay all of a sudden sorry.
