That is, much larger than the size visible on the big monitor

That is because many website operators do not have a mobile version of their pages, which is why everything is too big for a mobile screen.

There is not much you can do if a company or website operator doesn't support mobiles, other than get yourself an iPad or some other large-screen tablet if you need the portability. The iPad is the one to have though, for unbeatable reliability & function.

Whoever coded your web site will have to do a secondary setup for mobile. You will need to check what device and browser type is connected and then redirect to the proper page. We can't just look at the finished site and know what needs to be done, you need a web designer for that.
