Hello there thanks for stopping by,

The holidays are coming up and I am wanting to upgrade my PC. After further knowledge I learned that in order to get the upgrades I want which is a new GPU specically looking for a 1060 or better. currently have a radeon r9 970x
And I am also wanted a new CPU. I was looking around and wanted a ryzen because I heard they where quite good. I am currently rocking a fx 8320 3.5ghz 8 core and its not getting the job done.

So anyway I was told I had to get a new motherboard to be compatible with all these new parts and that some parts where not compatible at all.

I was looking at this
https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?...

I think those are good parts but I am just assuming that,
its at the top-ish of my budget
I would love some expert advice

Thanks in advance,
Matt

You need RAM for that build. Your old RAM is DDR3, and you need DDR4 for new CPU/mobo that have come out in last 2years or so.

Those...
Are you willing to assemble the PC yourself. If so, then getting parts from here and there can save you a lot of money. And by selecting components rather than a set you make sure to get good quality components.

Last the link doesn't work. Are you upgrading only CPU, GPU, Mobo, and RAM ?

Those components will last a while. Since you chose non overclocking CPU there is no need to get a Z370, save money and get a H370. Has all features of Z370 except overclocking.

is there anyway to maybe cut the price just a tad. i have corsair vengence already (just looked it DDR3)
(BTW thanks for putting that list together)

DDR3 WILL NOT work with newer gen CPUs n Mobos. Just sell the DDR3 and get the DDR4 for the newer gen setup. I dropped the CPU to the i5 to bring down the price:

But I'd suggest switching to AMD. The Ryzen 5 2600 is an excellent CPU and the B450 platform would allow you to upgrade CPU in 3yrs (if you wanted). And this build saves money while gaming just as well as the Intel build.

Do you mean an R9 290X or an R9 270X? An R9 970X isn't an actual card. : P

If it were a 270X, then a 1060 6GB would be around twice as fast, and probably a reasonable upgrade. If it were a 290X, then a 1060 6GB wouldn't be much faster.

Also, if you have a decent enough power supply, you might also consider the RX 580 8GB, which provides about the same level of performance as a 1060 6GB, but can currently be found on sale for as little as $200 for some models. They do draw more power under load though.

It's nice to have hyperthreading on the i7 but not needed. And when you are on a budget its best to get i5 or Ryzen 5. I really wouldn't suggest it in your case. The money spent on i7 over i5 would be better used to get enough RAM (2x8gb 3000MHz) and a good GPU. That will give you better performance for gaming.
