I have 1G/500Mb fiber internet at home. Everything is beautifull until I open a port for the torrent client. Yes, I have several torrents. The ping rapidly increase from 5ms to 500-600ms. I have 3-5 godd ping then one high. If I ping my local router's address I get the same high pings. The router is from my ISP sagemcom f@st 5655v2. They changed my router but didn't helped.

In my opinion the ISP router is slow and can't handle the high connection number. My ISP don't have other type of ONT.

Torrent can easily overwhelm ANY bandwidth broadband by rapidly spawning hundreds of connections. Quickest fix is, better torrent clients I've seen can be configured to NOT take more than X bandwidth. Your PING shares the pipe with Torrent, is like suddenly the subway becomes midday commute and u suddenly find yourself pushing through the hordes.

It could be your pc also it is hard to say you need another device to test with to determine if the problem is the router or is the pc. If it does it from another device then you could blame the router. I would test with a non torrent download like from microsoft and see if that also causes the issue.

If you are using wifi then that can easily cause the problem.
