Hello there,

Today I replaced the cpu of my optiplex 755 to a new one:
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6550
>
- Intel Xeon Processor X5450

The Xeon is a 771 socket cpu but is modified to a 775 socket. After putting the cpu in the pc front fan was blowing really hard and the on/off button was bright orange without flickering. I have upgraded the bios A11 > A22, still it didn't help.
Things I have done:
Rearrange memory and cleared dust near all fan.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Solution
A 755 uses a q35 chipset so it will support an X3320, X3350, X3360 but not 5XXX series Xeons.

It's explained here.

Prebuilt system's tend to have BIOS's that prevent an end user from tampering with the system. In hindsight, the OptiPlex was designed to be reliable which is why they aren't highly modified and are found in the masses hands after a very long time, since they were very reliable at their intended arena of operation.

Which form factor do you have? You should've picked a Q6600 as it's guaranteed to work in that platform.

I'm afraid delaro is right. Of the Optiplexes the 360,380 are the only ones that take LGA771 CPUs.
Even in those the fan issue is because the BIOS needs to be modded to recognize the LGA771 CPUs.
Q9650 is the best you can do, and a lot less bother than the Xeon swap.
Here are the builds for that.

If you want to do a mod get an e7500 and put a peice of tape on it for 3.66GHz overclocked 2 core.

The 2nd photo. It also works for a Q66600 SLACR to 3GHz but it isn't as fast performing as newer Q9505, Q9550.
You didn't say what size 755 you have. You'll probably need a CPU cooler uograde aslo.
