Assuming what you are referring to is an online account, go through the steps to recovering your account.

let me just put this one to rest.
We cannot provide any direct help in getting around a password lock.
However, I can provide you with information regarding if you forgot a password to an account or device.
For passwords on PC operating systems that keep you from gaining access to the OS, we CANNOT and WILL NOT help you. Sorry.
In regards to an online account, you must go to the login page of that online service and a blue link should be available for you to click that usually says "forgot password?"
This will take you through the process of resetting your password in order to gain access to your account.
If it's a password on the lock screen of an iPhone, there is no way around this and you must simply plug it into a PC and load up iTunes and do a restore with the option of NOT restoring from a backup from either local machine or iCloud.
Once restored to factory, you can get into the phone and sign back into your Apple account and get all your iCloud photos again and recover your iMessages history as well as contacts.
For Android devices, you must turn off the phone, and hold down either power+volume up or power+volume down while it's booting, and it should take you to the recovery menu. from here, you can reset to phone back to factory.
Then during initial boot after the factory reset, you will be given an option to log into your google account and then restore from backup there.
This should get you your contacts back as well as restore photos from cloud.
As for text message history, that's entirely up to whether or not the messaging app you use had a backup function or you used a 3rd party app to do text message backups.
