Hello, i need help. I want to buy ram a dual kit actually but unfortunately the item is out of stock. The only available is the single stick. The have the same brand same speed and same model. Buying 2 of these is a good idea? Or wait til stocks arrive? If i buy 2 single stick can they work as dual channel?

Thank you in advance for helping me.

Solution
They'll run in dual channel, but there's a chance that they won't work together(compatibility issues).
That's why memory is sold in kits... those modules are tested to work together.
You should wait until stocks are available for the kit of 2.

If they are exactly the same, in 99.9% of cases they will work flawlessly in dual channel even if they are not sold as a kit. But due to that tiny, tiny chance of slight variances between them, it is usually recommended to go for a kit instead. That being said, I have never in my life had a situation where 2 identical modules (sold separately, not as a kit) would not work in dual channel. They all worked and still work perfectly. YMMV.

Well, believe it or not it happened to me with 2 GEIL DDR2-800 memory kits.
I already had a 2x2 kit installed, but when I bought another identical 2x2 kit I would get BSODs.... everything was fine when running them separately.

I have had 2 sticks made one apart, the SNs were in sequence, 1 after the next, and they would not run in dual channel.
not just once mind you. after having to tell a client that the RAM doesn't like each other and you need to order different RAM, you stop taking the chance altogether.
