Varies from unit to unit, connection to connection and from device to device. What is the make and model of your audio equipment and how are you connected to your audio playback device? If a computer, you can access the Bass settings in Sound Manager. If it's an amplified speaker system, the subwoofer is usually part of the speaker setup and houses the amplifier in it, so that's not possible to turn off.
