[SOLVED] Internet fails and I get a "dhcp not enabled on this adapter"

So, I thought I'd ask toms what the heck is going on here.

My computer has a relatively chronic problem where it loses internet access (though the wifi icon does not change to reflect this) and sites that are not cached start throwing "could not find dns/hostname..."

Anyhow, if I troubleshoot this in windows network troubleshooter, it often says that the adapter does not have dhcp enabled. Apply fix, things work again.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? The only relevant facts I can think of are:

- I have a static ip set up on my system
- I have a dhcp-reservation set up on my router (v2000h on Telus in Canada)

Does anyone have some guidance on how to stop this issue? It's frequent enough that it has started to get annoying.

Solution
Obviously - you can have either static ip or one given by DHCP.
But if you have ip adress reservation to same static ip in router, then having DHCP enabled would give you the same IP.
So - just enable DHCP.
Apparently having a static ip precludes that in some ways. Plus, as I stated, the problem is not consistent. It cuts out arbitrarily, or so it seems.

I've checked the router, and my system is placed away from anything else on the network by 30 or 40 digits.
