I just got this GPU after using my gtx 960 2gb for like 2 years for my i7 6700

I noticed after i finish gaming the card sits idle at 60C and the fans arent on,i'm worried this might make it die prematurely so i need some advice on what kind of fan curve to set up for it...

Solution

Mine is set to "optimal power" atm...

I've got that same video card with a curve that starts at 60% 0 - 30, hits 80 at 35 and 100 at 40 and mine usually idles around 25, whether in my cramped Corsair 570X mid tower or my current open backed Cougar Conquer and the noise isn't an issue for me, I can still hear my speakers or the tv at low volume with my case right next to me.

60 at idle sounds pretty high to me, but if you're running your card on the default curve with the zero frozr deal I guess that makes sense. If it continues to idle over 30 I'd suggest testing it on another system just to make sure it is cooling the way it should.

Do you guys have "prefer maximum performance" or "adaptive" power setting in nvidia CP?

Mine is set to "optimal power" atm (maybe the driver default?), I usually go with adaptive.

yeah i think i found the solution to such high temps on idle,it was on "prefer max performance" which makes the card have almost full boost clocks when just watching a video,i have it set to adaptive now and its fine.
