Hi there,

I have an old Dell XPS 15 L501X laptop without Bluetooth.
At the time, you could choose the wireless card with BT module in it, but for whatever reason I chose not to go for it.
Now, I have found the genuine wireless card (P/N 7VHX5 ) on AliExpress for 20.00$, however I know I could simply buy a USB BT adapter.

  • Do you think a USB adapter would work better than its genuine BT card?
If you think so, do you have any suggestion on which one to buy for this old laptop?
I have a Bluetooth headset and I would use it for movies or eLearning courses.
Thank you!
Alex

I have been using this Bluetooth adapter for everything from my phone, to several pairs of headphones, to some wireless speakers, since 2016 and have had zero issues with connectivity or signal on any device I've used it with.

Certainly I think that a USB connected bluetooth base unit with antennas will work better, but they are also a lot costlier. If you don't need to be more than about ten to twelve feet from the unit continuously, then the micro bluetooth adapter should be fine. If you need better range, then opt for a cable connected unit that you can place and aim the antennas on accordingly.
