The title says it all. Im not really sure if 2070 with raytracing will be that much better than the 1080. Everyone's calling the new technology "revolutionary" but will it really be that good and make the 1080 complete garbage?

Solution
1080 GT is around $380
1080 TI is between $475-$525 used.
RTX 2070 $700+... Ouch

Currently, it's not worth it even after 3 months all games that have implementer RTX show heavy FPS hits with that feature on to a point where most turn it off. Without that feature, a 2070 just doesn't perform strong enough to out value a used 1080 TI. Just like hairworks, this is another unique poorly implemented option that will get turned off in most situations.

Google up "ray tracing fps issues," notice no updates since August.

I personally don't think that the tech is that ground breaking this generation. Next gen cards will have more power behind them, but I'd wager that as soon as you turn on ray tracing on the 2070, you can expect performance closer to a 1060 or 1070. That's just speculation and my opinion of course.

RTX 2070 is slightly faster over a 1080 GTX.. yes I would agree with that but it's also $100+ more expensive. You can find used 1080 TI's for the same price as an RTX 2070 and that is much faster. RTX software implementation is going to take 1-2 years and by then the refresher GPU's to replace these early RTX cards will be out.
