Hi everyone,

I recently scan my private network activity and hoo damn so much junk there...

So i would like to install a "Firewall" between my ISP box and my private network, like this ->

awfelyu.jpg

I looking for a solution with which I could :

  • ■Block outgoing/in going for a specific host basded on the mac address
■Block a domain ex: *.google.com (and all it's sub domains)
■See the bandwidth usage per host
    ■Good logs

Thank you,

First two requests are easy, ANY FW can do it.

Third and forth requests go together, u want a good reporting/accounting "package." Anybody can do log, but you don't want to bury your head on dumps, u want nicely presented charts and what not. I like to know who does this too!

Plan to spend several usd$hundreds at the very minimum.

Thank you @jsmithepa

Actually I just change my ISP and I need a router how do also Firewall.

about the "See the bandwidth usage per host " I don't need fancy charts I just need report where I can have quick overview of witch device consume what and where.

So what is your budget. How much actual programming/configuration are you willing to do yourself.

The device you buy greatly depends on how much bandwidth you are running on your internet connection.

Your main issue is your requirement to log data usage. You need a device that can store that information someplace. Almost all the "routers" you see being sold to home and small business are not capable of doing what you want.

What you are asking for is a actual firewall appliance. This is not cheap these devices can cost well over $10,000 and that does not include the yearly maintenance fees. You can likely get something smaller but do not think this is going to be a cheap project.
