Clock speed under base speed

Hi recently playing fortnite I've had my cpu speed go down to 1.4ghz rather then the base speed of 2.5ghz. It occasionally does overclock when I'm in the loading screen ( before the game, not lauching ) Although as soon as I quit fortnite my speed is back to the normal base speed. My fps is stuttering all the time. I've been getting as low as 25 fps. ( usually during very low clock speeds ) I used to have a consistent 70 fps and now I'm getting 35-55.
I've checked out my cpu temperature and it hovers around 75c whilst gaming, I heard that 75 isn't that bad for laptops although I'm aware it could cause damage over time, please correct me if I'm wrong, and go ahead and educate me because I'd like to know these things

Just to clarify it suddenly started to perform this way, from what I'm aware of.

Here's my specs :
Amd Ryzen 3 2200U
Amd Radeon 535 with 2gb dedicated vram
8gb ddr4 memory
1tb hdd

Model name/number thing : A315-41g-r1gr

Please help me !
Thanks,
Dan :)

Hey there...!

At a Temperature of 75c the cpu normally doesnt thermal throttle so the clock speeds should be normal according to the temp...
Could it be that you accidently set your energyoptions to energysaving?

Try setting those energy settings to "maximum performance" and also try plugging in the laptop while gaming

I think you solved the issue, I changed the energy setting to maximum performance, it seems as if I had half of the settings for performance and the rest for battery :D :pt1cable:  thanks heaps memphisto !

I've only done a quick test so I'm not marking the post as solved yet, I'll change it tomorrow if not tonight.
