Hi everyone! I'm using a z370 motherboard and the RAM listed below. When water cooled, can I overclock this 2400mHz RAM to 3000mHz safely? What are the risks?

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C16

Thanks in advance!!!

Well, don't believe everything you read on the internet. lol

With that being said, I am quite sure there are times where people have gotten their 2400mhz RAM to run at 3200mhz. But those situations do not happen often. RAM prices have gone through the roof over the past couple of years and memory manufacturers have really tightened up their processes to squeeze every last dollar out of every last stick.

In the end, you have an Intel CPU. High speed RAM do very little for Intel CPUs. Here is a memory analysis of the 8700k. 3000mhz...
You are not going to be able to get it to 3000mhz. It is rated at 2400mhz for a reason. If it could do 3000mhz, it would be rated that high. You might be able to run 2666, but you will have to play with the timings and it wont be worth the trouble. Intel CPUs dont scale well with high speed RAM so it is really not worth the trouble.

As far as risk, overclocking RAM is pretty straight forward. I have never damaged a stick of RAM from overclocking so I would not worry about that at all.

Why have I seen other posts trying to overclock their 2400 to 3200 and people say it can be done?
I'm just pretty confused right now to be honest, can someone clear this up please?

Thanks

You will never see a difference in less than 1% fps in a game. There is a difference between 2133 and 2400mhz, but past that, the difference is very small. Even at 3866mhz, the difference was 2% from 2400mhz.
