I Bought a Vizio E70-F3 to use as another Display to play games on while sitting on my couch. I bought this one Because it said it was a 120hz. Well the highest refresh rate i can set it to is 60z, and thats only in 1080p and 4k. Cant even set it to 60hz in 1440p. So i look at the box again and it says 120hz effective refresh rate using backlight scanning. Can someone please explain to me what the **** is effective refresh rate and backlight scanning. Sorry for the language, but i am not to happy at the moment with this purchase because i feel that i got duped by false advertising.

it wasn't that i wanted a 4k at 120hz, Its that i just picked this one because it was 120hz. I was like, well let me get this one because it is a higher refresh rate. I am just kinda pissed that i was misled. I mean i expect that from Verizon but didn't think it would be from Vizio also.

Another cnet article on fake 120Hz TVs.

https://www.cnet.com/news/beware-fake-120hz-refresh-rates-on-4k-tvs/

They mention towards the end manufacturers of whom do usually list true refresh rates. I would assume these true 120Hz TVs can be expensive.
