Which upgrades are necessary/advisable for now!?

Hey Community,

I'm Sacha aka Biitz and as my thread title says: I am looking for some help on which parts in my rig i have to upgrade, next to what i plan to upgrade anyways! Thank you all in advance for your feedback, it is much appreciated.

2014 until Now:

Corsair 760T V2 White Graphite
Asus Rampage V Extreme
GTX 980 MSI OC
Intel 5930k
Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX
Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR4-2400 CL16 Quad Kit
860Watt Corsair AX860 ATX/EPS modular 80 plus
500GB SSD games
250GB SSD System
various HDD...

BenQ XL2411T 1080P 120mhz 1ms
The system was mainly used to play different games in a rather competitive way. So the system, as it is, handles that still pretty good.

The reason i want an upgrade is to go to the next level 1440p 144hz and maybe maybe maybe later 4k depending on the monitor prices (not so much competitive anymore - getting too old) simply to enjoy the games even more - and the time i have infront of my rig.

Upgrades i want:
- Asus ROG Strix 2080TI
- Asus ROG Swift PG27V 1440p 144(165)hz Gsync

Next to the step '2080ti' , is there anything that badly needs to be replaced for now? Not speaking about 3 years from now.
Are the CPU RAM and MB still capable of supporting each other enough to let the 2080ti and screen shine at their best?

I will stop here for now and wait for your questions and feedback! Thanks again.

You built that in 2014? I bet that wasn't cheap! I see no reason to upgrade your CPU, it actually benchmarks higher than my 7700k but at about twice the power though :p There is faster ram available today but I wouldn't think even 2400 would cause any bottlenecking. Even your PSU looks perfectly capable to handle a 2080.

Yes phaelax, i ordered the parts Q4 2014 right after they hit the market with the goal to not need an upgrade at all for 4-5 years (worked out fine i guess). And right, it wasn't cheap at all.
The RAM was actually my biggest concern here, 2400 to 3200 seems like a big leap but i guess i will give the old ones a try - since this will probably be the cheapest and easiest upgrade i can do later.

I was thinking about the 1080ti too for a moment. On the other hand:
1) it seems to be pretty hard to get atm (especially the versions i want)

[i actually just checked the 4 websites in germany that i buy my stuff from and they have exactly 1 1080ti! 3 of the sites don't have any at all!]

2) the prices i saw for the wanted card make it a big no-no in my eyes (used they were around 800€, new a bit over 1000€). That price is just to high for a card that came out over a year ago AND has a newer follower already.
But i appreciate your advise SgtScream because it would be a reasonable step to do. But usually i go big or not all ;)!

3) I wouldn't spend 1000€ on a GPU that barely reaches the needed minimum (in my eyes) for the setup i want - when the market offers better option for a bit more money.

I will wait for blackfriday and cybermonday to see if i can make an great deals on them (and find out if nvidia can fix their new flagship). If not i still have time to upgrade in a few months.

Thank you guys.
