We have a Brother HL-3070 colour laser printer. On the display, it currently shows that toner levels are fine in Black, Magenta and Yellow but low/empty for Cyan. However, printing test pages shows perfectly fine printing in all colours, and printing a status page shows 0% on Yellow and around 10-15% on Cyan.

I'm absolutely baffled as to what's actually going on - is anyone familiar with this model or make and can tell me what to believe.

Cheers

Think of it this way: Manufacturer's make money on ink and toner. Not the printers per se.

So it is very likely that the toner levels are going to error on the "safe side" in order to avoid running out of ink or toner in the middle of a print job.

My Canon MX870 is always starts indicating low ink level well before the cartridges actually go dry. If there is a warning or "error" of some sort, all I do is acknowledge it and press "OK" to keep printing.

Then change the cartridge when the color actually does run out....

Usually in the middle of some print job but I can tolerate that for the most part.
