How can I improve wifi in the house?

I have 200mb cable fibre broadband, and the main devices whether wired or wireless..ie desktops/laptops get a good healthy 200mb in speed.

But I have a PS4 just 2 metres from my ASUS router and it only gets speeds of 120mb tops (used to be 60mb before i moved from 2.4ghz to 5.0ghz).

These are not the issue. The issue is the PS4 upstairs on the other side of the house. I live in a small 2 bed terraced house.I get constant drop outs from this PS4. When i check the wifi signal on the ps4 it is 2 bars out of 3. So not bad, but not excellent. The speed at 2.4ghz was poor, maximum 20mb if lucky, but quite often fluctuates even to KB speed!.

I thought I fixed it by changing my router to 5ghz. Speeds were now up to 60mb on this ps4. Signal strength similar too.

But I still get drop outs.

Mobile phones running off the wifi also get poor ish speeds...oddly. A laptop in the room with the troubles ps4 receives speed of 200mb!

So I am thinking of a AC wifi extender? assuming the ps4 internal wifi card is not of the best quality.

Thoughts please?

If you mean powerline units those tend to be your best option to extend a network. Still even buying the very best units that have a 1200 number on them will most times not get 200mbps even using ethernet cables.

Avoid buying a actual wifi "extender". These will improve your signal strength at a cost of network speed. You will lose at least half and now you have 2 wifi links that can be interfered with. This causes problems for games more than other stuff.
