Hello! This problem just manifested a few weeks ago. My router is only a ~10-15 meters away from my computer, (my computer is in my room, the router is on the staircase right outside my room). Basically, I have no trouble when on 2.4 ghz, but when I connect to 5ghz, my wifi will be fine for maybe 45 minutes, then it will disconnect for about 1 minute without warning. When I use the network diagnostic troubleshooter built into windows 10, It solves the problem itself (I know, troubleshooter actually solving the problem) by simply reactivating my network adapter. My adapter is the ASUS PCE-AC51 (AC750). I had not been having any problems, and this problem came out of nowhere recently without any kind of windows update or driver update.

The problem is the distance. 5Ghz can only go about 12 or 13 meters max, and it can't go through objects like walls. It's more like bluetooth than wifi in that respect. All wifi signals fluctuate, and your router is probably just dropping the signal when it weakens to a certain point.

I should add that when I say 12 or 13 meters max, it will probably have horrible signal quality at that distance. You really need to be in the same room if you are using 5Ghz.

The thing is, I wasn't having this problem before. Also, the router is really close. Like really close. I don't feel like the 5ghz range issue even applies here

How long have you had that router? They do go bad over time and lose signal quality.

Try these solutions and see if they work. It may just be a power management issue. I know that some people also have trouble with windows 10 dropping them from public networks after a certain length of time.
